When the real estate agent told me that the buyer was taking down the house to put up units she did it with this sensitive, condoling voice. She seemed quite put off by my enthusiasm for the whole thing. I can see it from her point of view – I’m sure plenty of people get very emotional finding out their old family home is going to be demolished. But seriously, fuck that house. It took far more from me than it gave.
I’m so pleased that I never have to go to Avondale Road again. And even if I do, that house won’t be there.
